Sterling Search Partners is helping our client with their search for an IT Project Manager. We are seeking an experienced IT Project Manager who can step into an active environment and make an immediate impact. The ideal candidate has a proven track record managing internal IT projects from initiation through completion and is comfortable taking ownership of the project plan, budget, schedule, resources, risks, and overall delivery.
This is a hands-on project management role for someone who can quickly assess a project, establish structure, build a realistic budget and timeline, coordinate cross-functional teams, and keep stakeholders informed throughout the project lifecycle.
The ideal candidate will have experience managing projects from the client/enterprise side, rather than exclusively working for a technology vendor or consulting firm where the budget, schedule, and scope were predetermined through a Statement of Work (SOW).
Key Responsibilities

- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, budgets, milestones, and resource requirements
- Establish project scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and success criteria
- Develop project budgets and track actual spending against budget throughout the project
- Build realistic project schedules and proactively manage dependencies and critical paths
- Coordinate internal IT teams, business stakeholders, vendors, contractors, and other project resources
- Identify project risks, issues, dependencies, and constraints and develop appropriate mitigation strategies
- Manage scope changes and ensure appropriate documentation and stakeholder approval
- Facilitate project meetings and provide clear status updates to leadership and stakeholders
- Track project progress and hold team members accountable for commitments and deadlines
- Manage vendor relationships and ensure third-party deliverables remain aligned with project objectives
- Translate technical information into clear business terms for non-technical stakeholders
- Escalate issues appropriately and drive projects toward resolution
- Maintain project documentation, including project plans, budgets, schedules, risk logs, issue logs, and status reports
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to agreed-upon requirements
- Support project prioritization and coordination across multiple concurrent IT initiatives
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of IT project management experience
- Demonstrated experience managing internal/enterprise IT projects
- Experience independently developing project budgets and schedules
- Strong understanding of project planning, resource management, risk management, and change management
- Ability to take a loosely defined project and create the structure necessary to successfully execute it
- Experience working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to quickly understand a new environment, assess priorities, and begin contributing with minimal ramp-up time
- Strong proficiency with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Monday.com, or similar platforms
