Sterling Search Partners is helping a Birmingham client with its search for a Controller. Our client is looking for someone to come in and take control of all accounting duties.
Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day accounting operations and monthly close.
- Prepare financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and cash-flow reporting.
- Oversee job costing, WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion, and project profitability.
- Manage weekly/biweekly payroll, including timekeeping, job-cost coding, payroll taxes, and reconciliations.
- Oversee AP, AR, billing, collections, and cash management.
- Partner with Project Managers and ownership on financial performance and cost control.
- Lead and develop the accounting team.
- Work with outside CPA and financial partners on year-end reporting and compliance.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Construction accounting experience required.
- Strong knowledge of job costing and WIP.
- Previous payroll management experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- CPA preferred but not required.
- Strong Excel and accounting software skills.
